The Cenvar Roofing team recently prepared a detailed material list for a comprehensive roof replacement on a two-story residence, showcasing the type of extensive work we offer to homeowners in the State College, PA region. This project involved replacing the main house and front porch roof, while carefully scoping the work to exclude existing metal roofing and low-pitch sections.

Project Scope and Challenges

This job involves a full shingle replacement for approximately 23 squares covering the main two-story house and the front porch.

  • Chimney Work: The home features a prominent brick chimney that extends through the roof. The inspection noted the interior chimney in the attic and the need for careful flashing work around it.
  • Decking: Images confirm the roof deck is constructed of wood planking, a detail our team accounts for during the replacement process.
  • Excluded Areas: The material list explicitly excludes the back low-pitch section of the house that has a metal roof and a small back side porch, allowing the homeowner to focus the budget on the main shingle areas. The existing metal on the back porch was also noted as being improperly installed.
  • Gutter Note: Our inspection also found significant blockage in the gutters, likely from moss and debris.

Premium Materials for a Durable New Roof

To ensure lasting protection for this two-story home, the material list calls for a complete system upgrade:

  • Shingles: Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration Architectural Shingles in Quarry Gray will be installed on the main house and front porch.
  • Underlayment: The full deck will be protected by Cenguard Ice & Water and Cenguard Synthetic Underlayment.
  • Perimeter and Ridge: The roof perimeter will receive White Aluminum Drip Edge, and the ridges will be finished with Hip and Ridge Cap and Cenguard Ridge Vent for proper attic ventilation.
  • Penetrations: A 3-inch Lifetime Plumbing Boot and Pipe Sleeve will be used to ensure a watertight seal around the necessary plumbing stack.

This comprehensive approach demonstrates Cenvar Roofing's commitment to delivering a high-quality, full-system replacement that will protect the structure for years to come—a standard of service we are proud to offer our customers in the State College, PA region.
