Roof Replacement in Kingsport, TN

Our Kingsport roofing team recently replaced an aging 29-year-old shingle roof for a homeowner on Highridge Drive in Kingsport, Tennessee. The roof had experienced significant wear, with shingle loss after storms and visible surface deterioration, especially around old vent boots and flashing.

Roof Inspection and Homeowner Goals

The homeowner reached out after finding shingles scattered across the yard but noted there were no active leaks inside. During our inspection, we identified that the original roof materials were at the end of their lifespan, and the decking showed areas of weakness that needed replacement. The customer initially expressed interest in a metal roof upgrade, but ultimately opted for a high-performance architectural shingle system for cost efficiency and long-term reliability.

Roof Replacement Process

After removing the old shingles, our crew replaced sections of damaged decking and installed a complete Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration architectural shingle system in Midnight Plum, supported by RhinoRoof synthetic underlayment and O.C. Ice & Water Shield.
We also added OC VentSure RidgeVents, aluminum drip edge, and lifetime plumbing boots for improved ventilation and weather protection. The homeowner’s existing low-slope section received double-layered underlayment to safeguard against moisture and ice buildup.

A Durable Finish for Years to Come

The finished roof not only improved curb appeal but also enhanced protection against future wind damage. By reinforcing weak decking areas and upgrading the ventilation system, the new roof is built to last decades under Tennessee’s changing weather.
