Our Cenvar Roofing team in Charleston, WV recently inspected a home on Sissonville Drive after the homeowner reached out about an active roof leak in the back right corner of the house. The customer also asked for an estimate to replace both the main home roof and the shed roof located behind the property.
What We Found
During the inspection, we noted visible water stains on the interior ceiling, confirming the leak’s location beneath a low-slope section of the roof. On the exterior, several shingles were cracked and lifting, and areas around the plumbing boots showed signs of sealant failure. Some sections of the decking felt soft underfoot, indicating potential OSB or plywood deterioration from ongoing moisture exposure.
To better assess the damage, our team carefully removed and replaced a few button snaps on the existing underlayment to view the problem area. Temporary repairs were made to secure the roof until a full replacement could be scheduled.
Planned Work
For the main home, our estimate includes:
- Tear-off and replacement of 16.6 squares using Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration architectural shingles
- Full ice and water shield installation with O.C. Rhino underlayment
- New drip edge, ridge vent, and starter strips for complete system protection
- Replacement of three standard plumbing boots and one split boot for electrical
- Bath/dryer vent upgrades and complete ridge ventilation
For the backyard shed, the replacement includes six squares of the same Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration shingle system for consistent quality and appearance.
