New Roofs for a House and Shed in Fairfield, VA — Gutter Guards and All

Two Roofs, Handled Together in Fairfield, VA

When a homeowner on Jonestown Road in Fairfield, VA needed a new roof, the project came with a few wrinkles beyond the main house: a detached shed that needed doing at the same time, and a set of gutter guards that had to be carefully worked around. Bundling the house and shed into one coordinated project meant a single schedule, matching materials, and one experienced crew handling every detail — the efficient, sensible way to tackle a property with more than one structure.

Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration for House and Shed

Both roofs were built around Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration architectural shingles, a 50-year rated shingle with excellent wind resistance, installed as our Cenguard Gold system. The complete shingle roof replacement included:

  • Shingles: Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration (50-year) — roughly 28 squares across the house and shed
  • Ice & water shield: at eaves, valleys, pitch changes, and around every penetration
  • Synthetic underlayment over the remaining deck
  • Starter strip and color-matched hip & ridge cap for sealed edges
  • New ridge ventilation, drip edge, plumbing boots, and bath exhaust vents throughout

What Happens to Your Gutter Guards During a Re-Roof

Here's a detail many homeowners don't think about: if you have gutter guards or gutter helmets, they're often tucked under the first course of shingles — which means a roof replacement has to account for them. Rather than damage or discard them, our crew carefully removed the gutter helmets before tear-off and reinstalled them once the new shingles were down. Handling existing gutter protection this way saves the homeowner from paying to replace guards that are still perfectly good, and it keeps the drainage system working exactly as it did before.

The Details That Prevent Leaks

The difference between a roof that lasts and one that leaks usually comes down to the transitions. On this project, our crew reflashed every area where the roof meets a wall, installed new plumbing boots and bath exhaust vents, and cut in continuous ridge venting for proper attic airflow. A thorough roof inspection up front identified each of those trouble spots so nothing was overlooked during installation.

Backed by a Transferable Warranty

Both new roofs are protected by our Cenguard Gold warranty covering workmanship and material defects, transferable if the home changes hands within five years. As always, there's no deposit and no payment until the job is complete, with Service Finance financing available. It's the thorough, detail-first work our Virginia roofing crews bring to every property.
